Santa Rosa National Park is the most important park for the protection of our dry forest and is the home of our revered monument “La Casona”. Here in 1856 the Costa Rican army beat back the filibuster William Walker and his group who were trying to conquer the whole Central American territory and claim it for the U.S. Confederacy. Santa Rosa together with the Guanacaste Conservation area contain 2% of the world’s biodiversity and in the walk through the trails of this dry forest you will be able to observe animals such as: monkeys, deer, reptiles and a wide diversity of birds. After the hike we’ll make our way to the provincial capital of Liberia also known as Costa Rica’s White City, because of its white adobe houses, white roads and its people who dressed all in white because of the extreme heat. Here you’ll have an opportunity for some souvenir shopping meandering the streets of this city that has lately become very dominant in the economic affairs of the country and is currently the second most important city in Costa Rica.
