Taste chocolate processed right before your eyes while you learn about indigenous culture, plus visit a center of rescued monkeys and jaguars: this tour is a day for new experiences. Your first stop will be at the Chocolate Museum/Plantation and Indian Museum. With a knowledgeable guide, you walk through the cocoa plantation before heading into the museum so you can learn the whole process of making chocolate, from growing plants to putting chocolate in molds. Learn about the influence of the climate and pests battled in the plantations; watch the machines used by hand, and techniques of sun drying and cocoa fermenting. This educational experience continues with a visit to the Jaguar Center, a 20-, minute ride. This center rehabilitates mistreated, injured and confiscated animals from all over the country and then reintroduces them back into their natural habitat in protected areas. See sloths up close, uncaged toucans, orphaned baby monkeys and more. The animals live in semi-captivity and the center is run by donations.
